Saturday 2-23-08, A Day at the Market and relaxing at the resort

Saturday - After we had breakfast, some of us just laid in the sun, went for a swim, or just hung out. Today was our day for relaxing and the students pretty much had the day off. (The chaperons had to work of course). Our tour guide brought us to town at 11 a.m. and we were there for a couple of hours. It was a great opportunity for the students to interact with the native Costa Ricans and barter with the merchants. It was also during "Carnaval", so there were a lot of activities and festivities taking place. Take a look.

WHAT A COINCIDENCE!!! The EHHS students recognized these two brothers who are twins that we met at the school yesterday. They were excited to see us and posed for the photo-op.

After the visit to town, everyone jumped right back into the pool for some more water polo.

If you're going to become true waterpolo players, then you've got to learn the five d's of water polo: dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge!

"Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to witness the greatest happening in sport: sudden-death water polo". At the end of regulation, the score was tied at 97-95, according to the French point system. The game ended in a draw.

The female team had it together after the first turn. They looked like a machine. They had the lead at this point...

...but they ran into a little trouble and learned a lesson in buoyancy.
